Year 3

Welcome to Sondhiem Class

Spring Term

Our main topic this term is The Stone Age. The children will use a timeline of history, find out lots of interesting facts about the Stone Age times, such as what they ate, housing, animals, cave painting and more.

In art we will be looking at Andy Goldworthy and nature art. We will be creating our own Andy Goldworthy inspired art for our art project this term.

In English we will be looking at The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We will focus on direct Speech in texts as well as persuasive text and poetry.

In maths we will be learning our 3, 4 and 8 times tables and learning how to multiply 2 digit numbers by 1 digit numbers. We will then move on to statistics looking at interpreting and presenting data using charts pictograms and tables. We will then move on to Money adding amounts and giving change with £ and p.

In PE we will continue swimming and will be starting gymnastics looking at the ways we can move.

In science we are learning about Light. We will look at what are light sources, reflections, shadows, and sun safety.

Year 3 will also be participating in the Tate Museum Year 3 Project with a Photographer coming in February.
